Time. Tick, tick, tick. For some, it elicits a sense of urgency and panic—a desire to fill every moment, pressured by busyness or the fear of missing out. Others treat time as a canvas on which they can design and create their days with relaxed intention. It’s kind of like that saying about whether the glass is half full or half empty; your perspective changes everything, right?
Brian and I are entering 2026 with hopeful plans for a slow and peaceful year. We kicked things off with a cool 14 miles logged over two days.
Quiet and brisk in 30°F weather, these morning walks jumpstarted our motivation to move with intention and got us buzzing for what’s to come. That quiet momentum seamlessly carried us into a tradition that keeps us accountable for how we spend our time.
Welcome to the 2026 edition of 52 Experiences in 52 Weeks.
52 Weeks of Quiet Purpose
Last year reminded us just how unpredictable life can be. Between shifting priorities and constant movement, time often felt more rushed and reactive. This year, we’re deliberately creating a road map to return to when life feels too noisy. Quiet purpose is our way of moving slowly, taking the time to check in regularly, protect our energy, and leave space for curiosity and adventure.
Time is the most valuable thing a man can spend.

Slow and Steady
Slow and steady is what we’re chasing this year. Brian and I usually set out with good intentions to move at a slower pace, but 2025 ended up being busier than we expected. And that’s life, right? Things happen, priorities change, and we adjust as we go.
That’s why this list, this annual challenge, matters to us. Life will always be a little unpredictable, and that’s something we expect. Brian and I are heading into 2026 knowing that it won’t be perfectly slow, but having a sense of direction will keep us steady as we venture through the year. Our list is an anchor; it’s a point we can return to when things go off course, bringing us back to quiet purpose.
As we step into 2026, we’re genuinely excited for what’s ahead. Every mini-adventure and challenge is a chance to practice intentional living and to choose how our time is spent. And that choice looks different for everyone.
So, what about you? How will you spend your time in 2026?
Brazilian hardwood wasn’t even on my radar until six months ago. I was completely unfamiliar with it; in fact, the only decking I had encountered before was pressure-treated pine and composite. If you had asked Brian and me a year

Our blank slate of a bathroom gave Brian and me some time to finalize some decisions before diving into installation. We selected our shower tiles, determined the half wall height, and planned for additional drywall removal. Once the plumber re-worked
