Brian and I spent our weekend visiting restaurants and indulging in rich flavors in honor of Anthony Bourdain. I have listened to his stories, vicariously traveled from city to city, and discovered cultures and cuisines beyond my day to day. Bourdain was an adventurer. He journeyed all over the world to share his experiences in local culture and food. Brian and I watch his shows, and each time we start an episode, we ask each other where we would like to visit that day. We drew inspiration from him.
Much Gratitude
Thank you, Anthony, for allowing us to join you on your travels.
Travel isn’t always pretty. It isn’t always comfortable. Sometimes it hurts, it even breaks your heart. But that’s okay. The journey changes you; it should change you. It leaves marks on your memory, on your consciousness, on your heart, and on your body. You take something with you. Hopefully, you leave something good behind.
Anthony Bourdain
We were gifted a signed first edition of Bourdain’s Appetites: A Cookbook. For our anniversary, we attempted to make fresh pasta and a pan-roasted veal chop with wild mushrooms. It was a good first attempt with even better memories…Isn’t that what the journey of life is about, anyhow? Living a good life while making great memories?
To Anthony – thank you for your candor, your story-telling, and your spirit of adventure. We look forward to learning more of your recipes and making memories in life, food, and travel.
