Happy 2019!! Brian and I hope everyone had a safe and fun holiday! December was met with rainy, dreary skies for the most part, but that didn’t bring down our festive spirit. Between work and play, we enjoyed cheesy Christmas movies and sang along to some holiday classics.
We made it a priority to embrace a stress-free Christmas. We declined party invites, stuck to an easy menu with tried-and-true dishes, and were pretty minimal with decorations and gifts. In fact, our families agreed to no gifts next year, which means we have an even more relaxed Christmas to look forward to in the future!
The last week of December involved A LOT of sleep, food, and quiet time. We enjoyed spending the holidays with our family and really loved the easy-going theme of Christmas.
Revisiting December 2018 Goals
-
Have a relaxing Christmas holiday
Done and done. Brian and I created a simple menu, completed our grocery shopping at 10 o’clock at night, and made sure we were relaxed and present.
-
Brainstorm and solidify our 2019 Financial Goals
After a few weeks of deliberation, we have narrowed down our ideas and have committed to our 2019 Financial Goals! Stay tuned for details!
-
Finish at least 1 book
I was able to start and finish Colleen Hoover’s It Ends With Us on a rainy Saturday!
-
Plan our big Italy getaway
While this planning will certainly take more than a holiday break to come together, Brian and I made some serious headway in the “when and wheres” of our trip! We hope to purchase our flights soon, which will be completely paid for through our credit card points!
-
Try some new recipes
Brian was lucky to enough to have two weeks off in December. He was able to experiment with recipes as much as he wanted! While he dabbled and conquered new dishes on his own, we both had a hand in a delicious roast beef, Italian roasted vegetables, and a tasty mushroom wellington.
January 2019 Goals
Bike everyday:
We started off the year strong with biking at least once a day so far. It feels so nice that we are going to try to keep up with biking every day for the entire month.
Catch a live performance:
It’s been a while since we ventured out. There’s plenty of free entertainment out there and we used to stumble across some pretty easily. Here’s hoping we can enjoy a pint and a show this month!
Read 2 books:
I felt accomplished after reading a book last month…so much so, that I checked out 4 more books at the library! I’m going to read 2 books this January.
Solidify our travel plans:
Our February and March plans are not yet set in stone. We hope to have everything ironed out this month!
Stay educated:
In line with our 2019 Financial Goals, we are going to check out some free lectures and resources focused on personal finance and investments.
How are you kicking off the new year?
